Senator Capito introduces new bill to protect citizens from police

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Last week, Senator Capito joined Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Tim Scott in introducing the Justice Act.

The bill provides long-term solutions focused on police reform, accountability, and transparency. The Justice Act implements solutions that the majority of Americans support, such as ending chokeholds, creating a duty to intervene, and getting more cameras on police on the street.

“I think that it sends a signal to West Virginias, Those who have been peaceful protesting and for those who have been watching this,” said Capito. “They are just disappointed at the dysfunction and the partitions and we know that it’s an election year, but this issue should rise above all of that.”

Majority Leader McConnell filed cloture on the motion to proceed to the bill.
