WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The morning commute will be smooth, if not a touch cooler than you’d expect for early June. Temperatures will stay a bit cooler than average, only reaching into the lower 70s this afternoon and evening. Scattered showers and storms developing this afternoon will keep temperatures on the lower side. These storms start in the early afternoon and dissipate just before sunset. An umbrella or light rain jacket will be useful for any afternoon errands.
A few of these storms will be on the heavier side, which could disrupt outdoor plans. While decent rainfall is expected, we are not expecting severe weather today. Winds will be calmer, and there is not enough of any ingredient to cause much concern. There will be a little bit of available energy, but broken cloud cover this morning will limit the instability. Any showers or storms will be beneficial to the region, but will unfortunately be short-lived. After these storms pass through today, we won’t have another round of rain until the latter half of the weekend. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
A high-pressure center will move into the region tomorrow morning, kicking off the next dry streak. You may want a light jacket tomorrow morning, as low temperatures are expected to be in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Temperatures will stay mild and comfortable tomorrow, only reaching into the mid-70s at their peak. In addition to comfortable temperatures, the skies will stay sunny with minimal cloud cover through the day. These wonderful conditions continue through the rest of the work week as temperatures steadily rise.
By Friday, we’ll be back into the 80s. These values will be just slightly above average for this time of the year, which is perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy the nice weather. With sunny skies and warmer temperatures, you will want to have plenty of water and sun protection if you are working or playing in the sun for an extended period. If you have outside plans this weekend, Saturday is far and away the better day. While high pressure slinks away, conditions will remain calm and warm.

Conditions will be wonderful from Wednesday through Saturday, but we still really need the rain. Thankfully, Sunday and Monday of next week will be the next chance within the viewing area. There is uncertainty concerning timing and amount, but the signal for showers and storms at the end of our extended forecast is growing. We need even more rain than we got in May for the drought to end, so we will always welcome rain when it comes. Here’s a look at the 7-Day Forecast:
