Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to move through the region. This is a look at the risk of flash flooding for Thursday. Unfortunately, we are not completely out of the woods with recieving heavy rainfall since the Weather Prediction Center put our area under this risk through Saturday. Thursday will not be a complete washout though, taking a look at one of the high-resolution models we use and most of Thursday looks to be a nice day. Scattered showers and thunderstorms should develop in the late afternoon to evening and roll through parts of the area.
Not too much rainfall is expected, but from the European model, 1-2 inches of rain appears likely across our northern parts and southern coalfields. Less rain looks to develop across the Greenbrier Valley, but any heavy downpour will be capable of producing ponding and flash flooding.
Taking a look at the full 7 day forecast, Thursday and Saturday have the potential to produce gusty winds, but the storms look to remain below severe limits. Sunday should overall be a nice day across the region, but isolated showers/storms are still possible in some places. Temperatures will remain seasonable and won’t really fluctuate much. Average high is 80 and we will remain right around that over the next 7 days. Watch the rainfall and make sure you don’t drive through roads that has water starting to cover it as it won’t really take much heavy rainfall to cause high water issues.
