WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The morning is much milder than it has been over the last couple of days, and temperatures will rise into the 70s later today. However, we still have a blip in the today’s forecast. A small group of showers will move through the northern half of the viewing area early this afternoon, bringing a light drizzle and cloudy skies. An umbrella or light rain jacket will come in handy this afternoon. The showers will pass relatively quickly, ending early this evening. After they leave, conditions clear up for a brief time before a cold front approaches our area overnight into Friday morning. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
The cold front approaching our region will bring severe weather to the lower Great Lakes. However, this line will weaken gradually overnight. This weakening will significantly lower the risk of strong storms in our area tomorrow. While a couple of gusty storms may develop, showers and storms will most likely remain sub-severe through the entire day.
Rainfall will be between a quarter and a half of an inch for most, so flooding risk during this system’s passage is also on the low end. Showers and storms will slowly dissipate, eventually leaving the region entirely overnight. Temperatures will be cooling down significantly by Friday night, and our higher elevation communities may see a light wintry mix before its all said and done.

Saturday will start off cold with temperatures in the upper 20s. Things won’t improve much despite the mostly sunny skies, as high temperatures will be in the mid-40s. The entire weekend will at least be calm, and Sunday will be better in the afternoon as seasonable temperatures come back into the equation.
However, more rain chances start to move in on Monday to start the week. Scattered showers are becoming a possibility for not just Monday, but the entire first half of the work week. A low-pressure system is showing up for later next week, though it is more likely coming in Thursday than Wednesday at this time. Still, make sure you have your rain gear ready for another active week in southern West Virginia. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
