Ridgeview Elementary puts up signs representing graduating fifth grade class

CRAB ORCHARD, WV (WOAY) – Ridgeview Elementary School has put up signs honoring each member of their fifth grade class.

The signs are meant to be seen by families when they drive through the school’s parking lot to pick up their childrens’ belongings.

The assistant principal of the school, Nancy Harless-Landy says it was a way to make things special for the fifth graders since they aren’t able to have a graduation.

“With the COVID-19 outbreak, we were so limited in how we could make things special for our fifth graders. So we just wanted to honor them the best way we could. And to have them represented, since they can’t be in our hallways, we at least have them standing out on our lawn,” Harless-Landy said.

The signs will stay up until the school’s virtual graduation on May 28.
