Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – Retired Raleigh County Circuit Judge has announced his candidacy for the West Virginia Supreme Court.
Former Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick told Newswatch this afternoon that he is running to fill the seat left by Justice Tim Armstead, who passed away this year.
He will run against Gerald Titus, the justice appointed by Governor Morrissey to fill the seat until the November 2026 general election.
The winner of that election will serve the rest of the term, which ends in 2032.
During his circuit judge career, Kirkpatrick heard a wide range of civil and criminal cases, including the high-profile Natalie Cochran trial.
He told Newswatch that experience makes him the right man for the job.
