West Virginia (WOAY) – The American Red Cross is issuing an urgent call for blood donations this summer, particularly for Type O blood, which is in high demand for emergency care and trauma patients.
Summer can be a challenging time for collections, as holidays, vacations, and severe weather all impact donor turnout.
That’s why the Red Cross is urging everyone to schedule and keep their donation appointments to help maintain a steady blood supply.
All blood types are needed, and if you don’t know yours, you can find out after you donate.
It’s easy to make an appointment.
Visit redcrossblood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS, or use the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
And there’s a little thank-you, too. Now through July 14, donors will receive exclusive Red Cross x goodr sunglasses, complete with a blood type sticker for personalization.
From July 15 to 31, donors will also get a Fandango Movie Reward by email.
