BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia University board of governors voted last Friday on a slew of changes for the entire university network, such as program cuts and tuition increases.
Those cuts impacted the WVU Tech campus in Beckley, where undergraduate degrees in math, chemistry, and aviation management were eliminated.
There was an unsuccessful appeal by faculty against those cuts, and the outgoing chair of WVU’s Department of Chemistry said that he is concerned how it will impact the state’s future.
Meanwhile, the WVU Tech president told us the cuts were made after significant consideration and will not impact current students in those majors.
