Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) – This 4th of July is a special one for all of America. Cities across the USA are stepping up their Independence Day celebrations for the United States’ 250th anniversary, including some here at home. Zenda Vance, who is the chairman of Fayetteville’s Heritage Festival, said they are planning on doing a lot this year.
Zenda said, “We have a soapbox derby starting from 12 and lasting until 3, that’ll be in downtown Fayetteville, which we’re really excited about. We have a parade at 5:00, then live music from 6 to 9. On Saturday, we have events here at the park all day from 11 to 9. We have inflatables, kids’ games, and a hot dog-eating contest.
She also spoke a little about the firework display and parade: “This year for our fireworks, we have a new vendor, which is going to be a fantastic show this year. We have prizes for the best float, the best bikes, the best scooters for the parade, and there’s a $250 cash prize for each category, which we’ve never done before”.
