Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office welcomes three new deputies

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) — Three new Raleigh County Deputy Sheriffs, Melvin Villers, Nicholas White, and Orion Munoz, are proudly wearing the badge after pledging to faithfully serve and protect Southern West Virginia.

Judge Andrew Dimlich administered the oath of office to the trio on the morning of April 15, 2025, with Villers saying he always dreamed of having a law enforcement career.

He has been on the job in Monroe County since 2023 and is excited to experience all Raleigh County has to offer.

The new deputy is also concerned about the bigger picture.

“I’d like to personally get into drug interdiction. There are a lot of people hurt by that. I feel like I can play a good part in helping get (drugs) off the streets and make the county a better place to live,” Villers said.

And the deputy is looking forward to the kinship with other officers.

“With my Monroe County experience, I assume Raleigh County would be the same way,” said Villers. “You never really feel like you’re alone. There’s always somebody there to back you up, and there’s a lot of good people to learn from.”
