Bragg, WV (WOAY) Raleigh County Sheriffs are commending officers who went above and beyond to help a woman experiencing a mental health crisis.
On November 14, 2025, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a welfare check in the Bragg area of the county.
Upon arrival, deputies found a woman standing on a bridge and showing signs of emotional distress.
Authorities say deputies remained calm and compassionate throughout the encounter.
Deputy J. Eller spoke with the woman, successfully persuading her to step away from the bridge and accept help from medical personnel on scene.
Sheriff Frank Priddy and Chief Deputy Frankie Shelton praised Deputy Eller and Deputy M. Villers for their actions, saying their professionalism helped ensure the woman received the care she needed.
The sheriff’s office also thanked the FMRS Adult Mobile Crisis Unit for its quick response and assistance during the incident.
