Raleigh County receives 11 million to fund water and sewer projects

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Raleigh County receives $11 million in grant money to fund three projects.

The Harper Eccles sewer extension received a $7.6 million grant to put in three miles of sewer line down route 3.Rhodell-Eastgulf water service received $2.1 million to give residents city water access. Finally, the Cool Ridge/Flat Top PSD will extend its water service as well with a $1.3 million grant.

“We would love to have our entire county on sewer and water and do away with septic systems,” said Raleigh County Commissioner Ron Hedrick. “It’s an old system, but it still has to be used because we can’t get sewer to most people because of our terrain. Anytime we can eke out another portion of our county and provide sewer and water, it’s a great day.”

Next, Hedrick says they have to nail down engineering plans and hopefully they can break ground this summer.
