WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The gusty winds will subside this evening and rain is on the docket Thursday evening.
FLOOD POTENTIAL: Since the ground won’t be able to totally absorb the 3/4″ of an inch of rain Thursday night, there will be standing water in many low-lying spots. For those of you who still have ice and snow around your property, expect more standing water. Rapid creek, stream and river rises due to ice jams could spill onto nearby adjacent properties.
The following creeks are most susceptible to flooding on Friday to early Saturday: Cranberry River near Richwood and Greenbrier River near Buckeye.
Rain will end by 10 a.m. Friday, the sky will clear and temperatures will skyrocket well into the 50s before a cold front triggers a few showers and thunder rumbles in the evening. Saturday will be more seasonable.
