OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – We started with some patchy fog around the area this morning, causing some slowdowns. The fog may have been patchy, but temperatures were cool around the area, with most areas hovering around the 50-degree mark. Later today, the fog lifts and with mostly sunny skies temperatures wind up near the normal for this time of the year. We’ll top out in the mid-to-upper 60s.

Tonight, lows will drop into the mid-to-upper 40s, and skies will be mostly clear, with patchy fog coverage significantly less than it was this morning.
Towards the middle of the week, a front is expected to come through the area. But the front doesn’t have any moisture to work with, so there won’t be any showers associated with it. What it will do is provide us with a reinforcing shot of cool air.

Highs on Thursday will only be in the lower 60s, and lows for back-to-back mornings will be in the middle to upper 30s. Frost is likely in some spots, and we’ll be tracking temperatures in Pocahontas County to see if we can get to the freezing mark, especially on Friday morning.
The next chance for rain comes during the second half of the weekend as another front comes into the region. This one has some moisture to work with, and we’ll see a decent chance for rain Sunday and into early Monday of next week.

It won’t be enough to alleviate the drought that we find ourselves in, but every bit helps at this point. Temperatures will rebound as we go into the weekend, with highs back in the lower 70s.
