Charleston, WV (WOAY)- The Public Service Commission of West Virginia approved a settlement to increase Black Diamond Power Company’s consolidated purchase power surcharge by approximately $1.2 million in additional revenue annually.Â
The Charleston-based company purchases electricity from Appalachian Power.Â
Black Diamond filed the case on August 12, asking for $2.3 million.Â
Under the proposal, residential rates will increase by $20.52 a month, or 14.76 percent, for a customer using an average of 834 kilowatt hours of electricity. Â
The original filing would have increased customer bills by 41 dollars and 29 cents monthly. Â
The company provides service to 3,932 customers along 1,000 circuit miles in Raleigh, Clay, and Wyoming counties, according to its latest filing.Â
