Charleston, WV (WOAY) Mountaineer Gas customers can expect a rate increase in 2026.
The Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) approved a settlement agreement on Wednesday providing Mountaineer Gas Company with an additional $5.2 million for pipeline replacement and other infrastructure upgrades.
The agreement negotiated among the parties involved the company’s infrastructure and replacement expansion program (IREP).
The company submitted the rate increase proposal on July 31 to accelerate its original plan to replace aged pipes and other infrastructure.
The rates will take effect on January 1, 2026.
The average monthly customer will see an increase of $1.55 in rates, or 1.93% more.
The PSC greenlit the settlement on November 13, followed by an evidentiary hearing the next day.
The Commission received four letters of protest in response to the proposal.
