Pocahontas County Emergency Management informs community of available shelter resources amid winter storm

Pocahontas County, WV (WOAY) Pocahontas County Emergency Management is informing the community about available resources to take shelter from the ongoing winter storm and freezing temperatures.

Emergency shelters are on standby and ready to open only if conditions warrant.

The county is coordinating with partners at the American Red Cross and local response agencies to open shelters as quickly as possible. 

The predetermined shelter locations that will open as needed include:

  • Marlinton Middle School 
  • Hillsboro Fire Department 
  • Green Bank Observatory 

If you need emergency shelter or have immediate shelter concerns, please contact the Pocahontas County 911 Center at 304-799-4567. 

Officials are also seeking partnerships with local churches interested in providing emergency shelter.
