McDowell County, WV (WOAY) – A fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a train is under investigation in McDowell County.
McDowell County Sheriff James Muncy tells WOAY that on Saturday May 31st, 2025, law enforcement and EMS crews responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train in the Mohegan area near Davy, WV. Once crews arrived on scene, they found the victim was dead and appeared to be trespassing on Norfolk and Southern railroad property.Â
According to Sheriff Muncy the victim is a 55-year-old white male from McDowell County. Out of respect to his family his identity is being withheld at this time.
The investigation into the incident remains active. Â
