Over 8 million packets of laundry detergent pads on recall due to faulty packaging

Oak Hill, WV (CNN)—Millions of packets of popular laundry detergent pods are under recall due to faulty packaging.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the pods pose a severe risk of accidental ingestion by young children and may cause facial injuries.

The recall involves Tide, Gain Flings, Ace, and Ariel laundry detergent pod packets made between September 2023 and February 2024.

They were in flexible film bags at U.S. retailers such as Big Lots, Family Dollar, Target, Walmart, and Amazon.

The agency says no injuries have been reported due to this defect.

The CPSC warns that eating a large quantity of detergent can result in death, especially among children with underlying health issues.
