CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is teaming up with the state auditor’s office to ensure that opioid settlement money is being used properly, as outlined in the West Virginia First Memorandum of Understanding, or MOU for short.
The MOU will provide all the details on how the settlement money will be given to different areas in the state.
According to the MOU, the West Virginia First Foundation will receive 72.5% of all the settlement and judgment money. 24.5% will go to local governments and the last 3% will remain in the state’s custody.
