Oak Hill High School’s Theatre Department is getting ready to deck the halls with a production of ‘Elf: The Musical’

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- Oak Hill High School is ready to take you from the North Pole to the Big Apple with their production of ‘Elf the Musical.’

This musical is based on the well-known movie of the same name and the cast is excited.

“It’s a super fun, light-hearted family show, and I’m really excited to be putting it on,” said Lily Harman, Jovie. “Elf is one of my favorite Christmas movies, so I think it’s fun to be able to put it on the stage and I think the kids are going to love it. It’s super family-friendly and I just think it’s like it’s everyone’s favorite Christmas movie and I think everyone loves it.”

It follows the story of a human elf named Buddy in search of his real family.

Oak Hill High School’s Buddy is played by senior Heath Gilliam, who is going into this role with no preconceived notions of the character.

“I have never seen the movie before, so I really just went into this play thinking like, he’s really happy,” said Heath Gilliam, Buddy the Elf. “It’s like a grown adult with like a bunch of, like tiny people. So like, I’m just like, overly excited and like, just like a kid at heart, pretty much.”

Regardless of who has seen the film or not, everyone agrees that this is a great show to start the Christmas season.

“It makes everybody get in the spirit for Christmas, I feel like. And I feel like everybody’s excited to put on a Christmas show,” said Addison Coleman, Deb.

Buddy the Elf hopes you’ll join in the fun.

The show will take place December 6th, 7th, and 8th at the high school auditorium.

On the 6th and 7th, the show will start at 6 p.m. while on the 8th it will start at 2 p.m.

Tickets will be $10 and you can only buy them at the door, so make sure to get there early before the seats are gone.

“You’re going to be happy the whole time and just stay sparkle, jolly, twinkle, jingly,” said Gilliam.
