Oak Hill Christmas tree lighting went off without a hitch

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- The City of Oak Hill has officially gotten into the Christmas spirit with its annual Christmas tree lighting. While the weather was cold, the warmth of the season was there for all to enjoy.

Before the tree was lit, folks enjoyed hot cocoa and fun treats. The Oak Hill Middle School choir brought the merry with well-known Christmas tunes. Though you don’t have to worry if you couldn’t join in the fun — the city has more in store.

“Our Christmas parade is next Thursday on December 12th. It will begin at 6:00. Lineup starts at 5. So we’d like to have some more participants,” said Damita Johnson, Oak Hill City Manager. “And then after the parade, we will go to the depot and we’ll have some free food down there. We’ll have Santa, he’ll give us some presents and will have a bench decorating contest. The mayor will judge those that night and we’ll announce the winners. We’re going to have a window decorating contest for businesses and individuals, and we’ll announce the winners that night also after the parade.”
