FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – It’s that time of year, the chilly days and holidays can be especially difficult.
So, Oak Hill Baptist Church held a free winter clothing and soup outreach to lend support to all those in need.
Many on the street don’t have the means for warm clothing or a bowl of soup.
“Particularly now, with the food shortage of pantries and things people have going on,” said Growth Committee Coordinator Mona Goodall.
They do outreach twice a year: October for winter clothing and Christmas decorations, and summer clothing, household goods, and serve hot dogs in June.
According to Goodall, people regularly visit the church’s outside blessing box.
“But I think we have more people now than ever to get anything they might be able to eat,” she said zip-top cans are helpful for those who don’t have the means to warm anything.
Also, ready-made, ready-to-eat canned soup, or beanie and weenies.
“That’s what God wants us to do, reach out to our neighbors and love each other,” said Goodall. ” Doesn’t matter what your circumstance is; we offer a little bit of fellowship.”
