Nicholas County Schools will begin delivering food to students via bus routes on Wednesday

NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Due to concerns over the coronavirus, all Nicholas County School will remain closed through March 27, 2020 unless extended closure is ordered by Governor Justice. All extra-curricular events are cancelled throughout the closure. Public use of school facilities is suspended until further notice.

The two Summer Saver packets will be used for instruction Monday, March 16,through Thursday, March 19. Instructional packets for instruction through March 27 will be delivered by bus to each bus stop on Friday, March 20. Instructional Packets will also be available, at the school, on the school website, and Live Grades.

On Monday and Tuesday (March 16-17) between 11:00 am and noon, Nicholas County students will be able to stop at any school to receive a bag lunch for that day and breakfast for the next day. If you are unable to get to the school on Monday or Tuesday to pick up your child’s meals, please contact the school and we will have your child’s meals delivered to you for those days. The Nicholas County Learning Center will NOT be distributing food. Learning Center students may pick their meals at the school most convenient to them.

Starting Wednesday, March 18 meals will be delivered by school bus at regular bus stops on a 5-hour delay schedule. Someone must be present at the bus stop in order to receive meals. Students who do not ride a bus may pick up meals at any school between 11:00 and 12:00 each day. Once again, if you are unable to get to the school, contact the school and we will arrange delivery.

All essential staff will report to their school on their regular schedule on Monday, March 16, 2020. Essential staff includes central office staff, principals and assistant principals, social workers, counselors, nurses, school secretaries, clerks, maintenance, technology and custodial staff, food service staff, aides, and transportation staff. Schools should employ social distancing to provide some level of isolation for staff members with documented cases of immune deficiency or other serious health concerns

Teachers are to work from home Monday, March 16 through Wednesday, March 18. Check your email frequently throughout the day for instructions from your principal. Report to work on Thursday, March 19
