It was a nice afternoon around the region as skies became mostly clear, with only a few scattered clouds around. It was windy, however, and also dry. Despite all that, there was less fire danger today than in previous days due to the higher humidity levels, part of the effect of the rain that fell Sunday night and early Monday morning.
The dry weather does not last long, however, as another system comes into the area and gives us a chance for rain and snow. The snow is mainly confined to the higher elevations but will possibly mix in later in the evening in some other areas as well as temperatures fall. More showers are in the forecast by the middle of the week.
As the week goes on, the weather becomes more tranquil, and warmer temperatures return, with highs in the 70s by this weekend! Early next week, we’ll be tracking another storm system and there are indications that this storm could be strong. The Storm Prediction Center has placed a large area in a 15% risk for severe storms from Sunday morning through Monday morning. Part of this area noses its way into the far western sliver of the state. We’ll keep watching it as the timing and strength of the storm comes more into focus.
