OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – This evening, we’re tracking some showers that are pushing through the area from west to east.

Some of the storms could be on the strong side, but most of the strongest storms will be in the areas to our north. Those storms could have large hail and damaging winds. Late tonight, the storms should move to the east of the area and fade away, and we’ll have another mild night, with lows in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees again.

Tomorrow will start with lingering showers before skies clear in the afternoon. Highs will again take a slight step back from Wednesday’s record levels, generally in the upper 70s. Lows tomorrow night will again be in the middle to upper 50s under mostly clear skies.
Temperatures get very warm again as the weekend starts. But the weekend ahead is a tale of two different days weather-wise as a strong cold front comes through on Saturday night and Sunday.

With the passage of the front, temperatures will take a nosedive during the weekend. Highs in the lower 80s on Saturday will drop into the mid-50s on Sunday. The rainfall with this front will be higher than what we see today, although even this front is not as wet as it could be, as the main moisture source from the Gulf continues to be pushed to our west and northwest.

Unfortunately, any rain that we pick up will not be enough to alleviate the drought that is continuing to expand through our region.

The start of the next traditional work week will be much cooler, with highs in the lower to middle 50s on Monday. Patchy frost is even possible in some areas on Monday and Tuesday morning, so be sure to take care of any tender vegetation. But the cooldown is a brief one, and temperatures towards the end of the extended forecast will be back in the 70s.
