Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) Thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Shuff, Mrs. Herron, Mrs. Price, and Ms. Logan’s kindergarten classes at New River Primary, the Oak Hill Fire Department has a new supply of stuffed animals.
The donation is for the department’s Children’s Traumatic Incident Program.
The stuffed animals are carried on every fire truck and given to children involved in traumatic situations, including motor vehicle accidents and house fires.
Fire officials say the comfort items help provide a sense of security during some of a child’s most frightening moments.
The students personally presented the stuffed animals to Assistant Chief Robert Begley, which gave them a strong sense of pride while reinforcing the importance of compassion and helping others.
