New River Gorge National Park Brush Fire Spreading

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Crews are working to contain a newly formed brush fire in the New River Gorge National Park.

Reported at 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Highland Fire has charred 225 acres and is 15% contained. Fire crews from local volunteer fire departments are putting in containment lines. The fire is not threatening any homes, but residents nearby along Route 41 and near Princeton have been notified of the brush fire.

We are told the fire is spreading and in a southeast fashion due to the wind. WOAY will provide updates on the fire this week as we receive them.
