OAK HILL (WOAY) – Senator Joe Machin, chairman of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, has announced that a handful of West Virginia projects will receive a combined total of $3.7 million in the 2024 fiscal year.
According to Manchin, these funds are possible through the U.S. Department of the Interior and Manchin’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The goal is to provide funding to help restore native species to the area and to restore mine lands at the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
The gorge will receive $1,450,000 to restore 500 acres of mine lands and $420,000 to stabilize coke ovens at the New River Gorge.
