Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia American Water presented the Armstrong, Page, Kincaid, and Kanawha Falls Public Service Districts with a revised purchase agreement on Tuesday.
This comes after the cancellation of an evidentiary hearing before the Public Service Commission in Charleston on March 27.
Two issues plaguing the Fayette County Commission’s deal to sell the three PSDs are state law requiring the PSD boards’ approval, as well as the forgiveness of millions of public tax dollars to the benefit of the private water company, West Virginia American Water.
WOAY reached out to all three Fayette County commissioners for details on the new agreement, and only Allison Taylor responded with quote, “It’s the first I’ve heard of it,” end quote.
West Virginia American Water provided WOAY with the following statement on Tuesday: “West Virginia American Water and the Fayette County Commission are working to revise their asset purchase agreement to incorporate supportive participation by the three districts and work on a process to gain their approval. A revised purchase agreement has been circulated for review by the districts and consideration at upcoming meetings.”
We will update you as we learn more.
