PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – The fourth Tuesday of each September is Voter Registration Day, which aims to encourage people to get their voter registration completed.
This national day is meant to remind people that they only have so long to register to vote. The last day West Virginia residents have to register to vote or change their voter registration is October 13.
The Mercer County Clerk Verlin Moye says that this national reminder is a great excuse to finally get yourself registered.Â
“It brings the awareness to such an important topic as voting and it puts it on the front lines, so people can review their registrations or even encourage other people to be registered,” Moye said.
There are roughly 42,000 registered voters in Mercer County, a slight increase compared to previous years.Â
