NASCAR Cup Series set to race at Daytona road course for the first time since 1959

WOAY – Since 1959, the NASCAR Cup Series has run 146 races at Daytona International Speedway. Yet, NASCAR is still set to make history at the track this Sunday.

All of those races took place on the track’s superspeedway. For the first time ever, drivers will be competing on the infield road course.

This weekend’s race will be a unique challenge for even the most experienced drivers. Instead of only having to make four left turns, drivers will have to navigate a 14-turn 3.5-mile track that also incorporates most of the superspeedway.

The GoBowling 235 begins at 3 pm eastern time. Kevin Harvick is the current Cup Series points leader.
