Music venues likely to remain closed for the summer

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – While many small businesses can hope to reopen in the coming weeks, music venues may be closed for months to come.

For instance, The Grove, a bar and live music venue in Fayetteville, isn’t likely to have any live music events throughout the summer. Lewis Rhinehart, owner of The Grove, says the music industry in general is under a lot of stress right now.

“It’s a $500,000,000 a year industry in the United States, and that’s just all gone. It’s a lot of income for not only the people that work there, but the production, the bands, the promo. Just overnight these people were out of a job,” Rhinehart said.

Some venues like The Grove are instead opting for virtual live streams of live music for patrons.
