CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY)- Earlier this week, we reported on local Monroe County students shooting their way to the West Virginia state archery championship.
Well, now they can say they shot their way to gold!
Monroe County schools will be bringing home multiple medals after today’s competition in Charleston. James Monroe High School is coming home as the 1st place champions for the high school team division and overall scoring team. Peterstown middle school team also placed as 5th for middle schools.
Many individuals placed as well. For the male individual middle school category, Layne Zimmerman placed 8th, Remi Dunbar placed 7th, and Austin White placed 2nd. Also, Jorja Stutts placed 5th among female middle schoolers.
Now for the high schools who placed individually, we had Aydin Kleinfelter and Jordan Baker place as 8th and 5th, respectively, in the male high school category.
Then in the female category, we had Lanie Taylor placing 3rd and Carolyn Clarkson who placed 1st. Carolyn was also the 1st place overall female to compete.
