WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): After some patchy fog and a brisk start, today will be absolutely wonderful across the region. Skies become mostly sunny, temperatures reach into the upper 60s, and no showers or storms are expected. Temperatures will not be as warm as previous days, but we will still be well above average for this time of the year. It will be a wonderful day to get any outdoor chores or activities done before more active weather moves into the region this week.
Tuesday will be even warmer, but a group of scattered showers and storms will pass through in the afternoon and evening. While less layers are needed for the morning commute, a rain jacket and umbrella will become handy. This group of showers will be just the start of active weather this week. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the full forecast:
The next widespread threat comes on Wednesday as a strong cold front moves through the region. Temperatures will continue to increase, reaching into the mid-70s before storms pass through the region. Showers and storms will be widespread, and some thunderstorms can become strong to severe. Damaging winds and heavy rain are the main players for this system. Wind gusts may get up to 70 miles per hour and heavy rain could cause some localized flooding issues. While tornadic activity and hail are less likely, we are not ruling out a brief spin-up or hail either.
After the front passes through, temperatures drop significantly overnight. Some areas may reach close to or even below freezing, which means we could see a wintry mix early Thursday morning in some regions. Accumulation will be little to none, but slick spots are possible early in the morning. Temperatures will get back into the 40s before the showers pass through our region.

After the showers leave on Thursday, conditions calm down for Friday and Saturday. High pressure will linger in the area, keeping any potential activity away from the north. Temperatures will recover, but will not be as warm as today. Expect temperatures to feel more seasonable from Friday through the weekend. Saturday will be equally as nice despite increasing cloud cover, and most of Sunday will be calm as well. However, the next low-pressure system will pass to our north, dragging another cold front along. The next round of rain likely starts late Sunday night into Monday morning.
