Mercer County traffic stop leads to shocking discovery and lengthy list of criminal charges for a local couple

Bluefield, WV (WOAY)- A shocking scene played out on Bluefield Avenue Wednesday afternoon when police stopped a stolen RV and discovered the driver and passenger were allegedly naked, impaired, and engaging in sexual activity while driving.

Bluefield Patrolman R.L. Hamm says he spotted the RV just after noon with a naked woman straddling the male driver.
When he activated his lights and sirens, the vehicle kept moving for about half a mile before stopping in an Advance Auto parking lot.
A witness told police the couple had switched seats right before stopping.
Officers identified the driver as Sharon Bryant and the passenger as 48-year-old Matthew McDonnell.
When asked what was going on, Bryant reportedly replied, “We were f******.”
A K9 unit alerted to drugs inside the RV, where police found suspected narcotics, marijuana, and paraphernalia.
Bryant later failed field sobriety tests, and McDonnell admitted to telling her to drive, knowing she was impaired.
Officers also recovered multiple pills and a broken pipe thrown from the RV during the stop. The RV was confirmed stolen.
Both Bryant and McDonnell now face a long list of charges, including indecent exposure, DUI, drug possession, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
McDonnell is being held in Southern Regional Jail on an $8,000 cash bond.
