West Virginia (WOAY)—Mercer County public schools will have an increased police presence on all campuses following a social media post about school-related threats.
West Virginia State Police and local law enforcement have investigated the threat and interviewed students, and they did not find the threat to be credible.
Schools will operate at regular schedule.
However, officers will be placed at all Mercer County schools out of an abundance of caution and public safety.
This new threat follows an increase in school-related threats statewide.
Mingo and Morgan County schools each recently received similar threats this week.
In light of these events, Mercer County Schools urges parents and guardians to talk to their children about how serious these threats are and that they are nothing to joke about.
