Mercer County Public Schools named JASON Learning Empowering STEM District for its commitment to STEM education

Princeton, WV (WOAY) Mercer County Public Schools is receiving national recognition for its commitment to science, technology, engineering, and math education.

The school system has been named a JASON Learning Empowering STEM District, an honor presented by JASON Learning and AASA to districts where STEM education is embedded throughout the curriculum.

District leaders say the recognition highlights hands-on learning opportunities from elementary through high school, including nationally recognized robotics programs, career pathways at the Mercer County Technical Education Center, and partnerships that connect students with scientists and local industries.

The review also recognized Mercer County for four consecutive years of qualifying for the VEX Robotics World Championship, expanding dual-credit opportunities, and creating career-connected learning experiences that prepare students for college and the workforce.
