Mercer County Health Department to provide free booster shots and water test kits on February 28

Matoaka, WV (WOAY)- If you are a Mercer County resident impacted by flooding, there’s an upcoming event for you to protect yourself and ensure your drinking water is safe.

According to its Facebook page, the Mercer County Health Department will be providing water test kits and administering TDAP and Hepatitis a shots on Friday, February 28.

They will be set up at the Matoaka Fire Department located at 205 First Avenue from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

According to the CDC, tetanus bacteria is more likely to get into the body through broken skin or puncture wounds.

Previous vaccinations may not provide enough immunity to prevent reinfection.

Staying up to date with recommended tetanus vaccinations is the best way to prevent tetanus infection.
