Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – The Division of Natural Resources is reminding West Virginians that you have to complete a hunter education course before buying a hunting license for the first time.

The class is a legal requirement for any new hunter born after 1974.

It stretches two days and features ten hours of teaching that cover everything from firearm safety to survival skills and first aid. It also teaches good hunting ethics.

The first hunting season of the fall starts on August 30 with black bear season.
