Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – Governor Patrick Morrisey has announced several grants impacting public water service and watershed restoration efforts in our area.
The Water Development Authority will give the wilderness PSD in Nicholas County a $500,000 grant to extend water service to Mount Nebo. The total project cost is 2.7 million dollars.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection has authorized $86,000 for the Greenbrier Valley District of the West Virginia Conservation Agency.
The money will pay for septic rehabilitation to reduce fecal coliform and nutrients.
The DEP also authorized $5,000 for both the Pine Creek Watershed Association and the Plateau Action Network. The money will fund habitat restoration and other projects in the Piney Creek and New River watersheds.
Governor Morrisey said infrastructure projects are critical for the state’s future.
