Beckley, WV (WOAY) A high-speed chase involving a rented U-Haul van resulted in a crash with injuries and an arrest in Raleigh County.
On Wednesday, February 18, while on patrol, a Beckley police officer observed a U-Haul van making a wide turn onto Johnstown Road.
When the officer turned on his lights, the driver of the vehicle took off at high speed.
Additional officers joined in the pursuit through multiple streets in the Beckley area.
The pursuit ended when the U-Haul van attempted to make a sharp turn at the intersection of South Fayette Street and Morris Avenue.
The driver, now identified as 28-year-old Devin Taylor, then lost control of the vehicle and hit a stump.
Two passengers, identified as Kwame Avery and Justin Collins, were treated for injuries at a local hospital.
According to court records, after being treated for his injuries, Taylor was arrested and charged with one count of reckless indifference and two counts of fleeing, causing bodily injury.
He is currently being held at the Southern Regional Jail under a $120,000 bond.
