HICO, WV (WOAY)- Love Hope’s Artist of the New Festival has been going on for now three years. This year, one local student brought the idea to expand the festival to include young filmmakers. It went off without a hitch as multiple people ages 10 to 24 submitted for the festival.
From drama to comedy, documentary to narrative, and film to animation there was quite a variety of films showcased. Everyone in attendance enjoyed what these filmmakers brought to the table
“Was so great. The turnout was so great. You’re so glad everyone came out and did so glad that so many artists decided to put their films in the show. It’s so exciting to see all of them,” said Libby Morgan, Organizer of the Youth Film Festival.
After the 12 films were showcased, the filmmakers got to do a Q&A with the audience. Oak Hill High School student Julia Moneypenny was excited to get this opportunity to showcase her passion.
“I have really just started to develop a passion for film and movies. It’s really fun to make,” said Moneypenny, filmmaker in the festival. “And I think it’s cool that we have an outlet like this to show you just what we’re passionate about. It’s really fun.”
They hope to continue this every year with the artist of the new festival.
