Lots of smiles on Dairy Queen’s ‘Free Cone Day’

Nothing says ice cream like Dairy Queen. March 20 was Free Cone Day at the 84-year-old chain known for its world-famous soft serve.

For most, the love for Dairy Queen started in their childhood and brings back that sense of nostalgia.

It was those sweet times with family and friends stopping at a DQ, coming full circle as an adult and you take your kids.

Everyone loves getting a cone or blizzard. And there’s something about that soft serve…

“It is the perfect blend of sweet and soft and silky and smooth. I don’t think Dairy Queen ice cream tastes quite like anywhere else, it’s got a special kind of taste,” said Fayetteville Dairy Queen Grill and Chill owner/operator Ashley Parrish-Mihrim.

The childhood memories come flooding.

“Takes you back to piling up in the car with your family to get a banana split or do this or that at Dairy Queen,” Parrish-Mihrim said. “Takes you back to a simpler time. Takes you back to a lot of family and togetherness.”
