Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Deputies from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office will swap out badges and boots for gloves and bats.
According to a media release from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday May 24, 2025, Deputies will play baseball against the amazing athletes of the Challengers baseball teams.
The Challenger Division is an adaptive baseball program designed for players with physical and intellectual challenges.
The idea for the game came together when Sgt. B.J. Adkins met several of the Challenger Athletes during a Community Relations event at the Beckley Little League Field.
“We’re really looking forward to this event,” said Sgt. Adkins. “It’s a great opportunity to connect with the community, have some fun with the athletes, and showcase a few of our cruisers for everyone to check out. We encourage everyone to come out, support this wonderful program, and enjoy a great day together.”
The games will take place on Field #1 at Beckley Little League Field from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
