Local doctor shares tips on how to cope with mental health amidst pandemic

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)- June is Alzheimer’s and brain awareness month, and while this month is essential every year, it’s especially crucial amidst the COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

According to health experts, one of the main effects of mental health during this time is isolation and the lack of activity. Local Doctor Kristi Dumas and owner of the Brains Training Center located in Beckley encourages everyone to acknowledge their feelings and to get active to help stimulate brain function.

“One thing that we are telling people is to acknowledge how you feel. Understand that these are very different and often paralysis times. It is a point in time that we have never seen before, so we’re telling people to acknowledge that,” said Owner Dr. Dumas.
