BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A marketing agency called Kid in the Background is helping a local band distribute their album online.
The Long Point String Band and Kid in the Background are partnering with the Weathered Ground Brewery to distribute the album through their website so the artists can more easily distribute it to the community. Owner of the agency Jamie Smith says it’s a way to support local artists and small businesses.
“When you go through Spotify, Itunes, Apple Music, stuff like that, they take a significant portion of the proceeds of every album sale. But when you do it this way, you’re essentially just paying the credit card transaction fee,” Smith said.
The album was released last Friday and is available only through the Weathered Ground Brewery’s website.
