LG sending stickers, not refunds, over recalled stoves

West Virginia (WOAY)- LG is recalling 500-thousand electric ranges involved in more than two dozen house fires, causing several injuries.

However, customers who comply aren’t getting refunds or exchanges; they’re getting warning stickers.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says it received nearly 90 reports of people and pets accidentally turning the front knobs on LG slide-in ranges and freestanding ranges.

It says that accidental activation can pose a fire hazard.

Several of the reported incidents caused more than $340,000 in property damage, and three fires resulted in pet deaths.

Customers who respond on LG’s website will get a warning label.

It reminds customers to push a lock button when the range isn’t in use to prevent accidentally turning it on.

The ranges were sold at Best Buy, Costco, and Home Depot between 2015 and January 2025.

The recall covers about two dozen models.

LG reminds consumers about its unique safety function, ‘lock out’ or ‘control lock.’

A spokesperson said they are proud of this patented LG invention, which was explicitly designed to enhance the safety of their ranges.
