Charleston, WV (WOAY) The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam targeting the area.
Scammers are posing as deputies and claiming victims have outstanding warrants, demanding payment to avoid arrest.
Officials stress they will never call asking for money.
If you receive one of these calls, authorities urge you to hang up immediately, do not provide any personal or financial information, and do not send money.
