OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- It’s prom and graduation season, so that means there’s going to be a lot of celebrations and parties with it. So parents, we have some tips to help keep your kids safe while they have fun.
The biggest advice is to keep open lines of communication, according to the alliance for safe kids. Remember you’re the biggest influence on your kids.
Be sure to set clear rules about not drinking, and enforce consequences for breaking those rules. Explain to them that they should trust their instincts, if something doesn’t feel safe, it probably isn’t.
Remind them that they can always say no, they don’t need to do anything they don’t want to. Finally tell them, under any circumstance, you’ll be there to pick them up or help them, no questions asked.
